West Michigan Regional Laboratory (WMRL) is an independent, AAALAC-accredited research and teaching facility that is located in Grand Rapids, MI, on the campus of Calvin College. WMRL provides a variety of services including housing suitable for a variety of species, surgical skill training utilizing human cadaveric specimens, training in regulatory compliance, animal handling, and surgical skills. Two large, well equipped surgical suites, state of the art laparoscopic and orthopedic instrumentation, along with extensive surgical instrumentation, and imaging capabilities including ultrasound and C-Arm are available for use. WMRL is staffed by scientists with extensive experience in biomedical research as well as licensed veterinary technicians, and registered laboratory animal technicians who are ready to assist medical researchers and educators in custom study design and execution including surgical and non-surgical procedures and molecular analytics.

  1. Scientific Support
    WMRL scientists can help with experimental design and execution, data analysis, and scientific editing. Statistical tools available include SAS, R, SPSS, python, and G*Power.
  2. Research & Education
    Our licensed veterinary technicians and registered laboratory animal technicians are ready to assist medical researchers and educators in custom study design and execution including surgical/ non-surgical procedures and molecular analytics.
  3. Educational Outreach
