Michigan Department of Public Health ( MDPH )

In accordance with Federal regulations and guidelines, WMRL holds an Assurance with the Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare ( OLAW ).

The WMRL Institutional Animal Care (IACUC) operates in compliance with Federal regulations and the guidlines provided in the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals and by the State and Federal Agencies listed above. The IACUC is overseen by WMRL's Institutional Official and provides review and approval for all protocols involving use of animals in teaching and research.

In addition to its strict compliance with Federal and State legal and regulatory requirements, WMRL has recieved accreditation from the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International ( AAALAC ). This accreditation is given to facilities that meet and comply with the highest industry standards.
